What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life & Future Readiness Teacher position at NORTH BRANDYWINE MIDDLE SCHOOL?
The Coatesville Area School District is seeking a dynamic and student centered Life & Future Readiness Teacher for North Brandywine Middle School. This position will start at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.
Applicants should be committed to the success of all students and have the ability to teach diverse learners. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to meet all students’ learning needs in order to ensure academic growth.
Grade Level: Middle School (Grades 6, 7, 8)
Course Description: This course is designed to equip middle school students with essential skills for personal, academic, and future success. It focuses on the key areas: executive functioning including study habits and skills and financial literacy. Through interactive lessons, real-world applications, and self-reflection, students will develop the tools they need to navigate school and beyond with confidence and independence.
Course Objectives: By the end of this course, students will:
· Develop executive functioning skills such as time management, organization, goal setting, and self-regulation. This will include strengthening study habits, note-taking strategies, test-taking skills, and critical thinking abilities.
· Learn fundamental financial literacy concepts, including budgeting, saving, responsible spending, and basic banking.
Unit Breakdown:
1. Executive Functioning, Organization, Study Skills and Habits
o Understanding executive functions and their importance
o Time management and creating schedules
o Prioritization and task management
o Growth mindset and overcoming challenges
o Note-taking strategies
o Test-taking techniques and managing test anxiety
o Effective reading comprehension and summarization
o Collaboration and communication skills
2. Introduction to Financial Literacy
o Needs vs. wants and smart spending
o Introduction to budgeting and goal-setting
o Basics of banking (checking, savings, and digital payments)
o Understanding credit, debt, and financial responsibility
Qaulifications:
Bachelors degree required.
Valid PA Family and Consumer Science PK-12 or any Grades 4-8 teaching certificate required.
External Candidates will be required to provide mandatory clearances. This includes the Act 34 (State Criminal Clearance), Act 151 (Child Abuse) and Act 114 (FBI Clearance). All Clearances must be within 1 year.
