TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:
North Broward Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and experienced transportation manager to lead and manage the transportation operations of the school. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of students, organize and manage schedules, lead a team of drivers, budget for repairs and maintenance of the fleet, and maintain compliance with all state and federal transportation laws and regulations.

North Broward Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and experienced transportation manager to lead and manage the transportation operations of the school. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of students, organize and manage schedules, lead a team of drivers, budget for repairs and maintenance of the fleet, and maintain compliance with all state and federal transportation laws and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staffing & Training:
- Hire, train, and supervise school bus drivers.
- Maintain accurate records of driver qualifications, certifications, and training.
- Work with and oversee the school’s mechanic to ensure all fleet vehicles are properly maintained.
- Review and approve all maintenance and fuel invoices related to the school’s vehicles.
- Design, implement, and oversee bus routes annually.
- Monitor and assign additional trips outside of daily routes.
- Maintain detailed records of driver hours.
- Ensure all operations comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Maintain and submit the MCS-150 Form on a bi-annual basis.
- Be knowledgeable and manage the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, including coordination with Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) when necessary.
- Enter, monitor, and update employee records in the FMCSA Clearinghouse on an annual basis.
- Coordinate with HR for annual driver’s license checks.
- Serve as the point of contact for transportation-related matters with parents, school administrators, and department heads.
- Provide timely updates regarding route changes, incidents, and scheduling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, email, and digital tools for scheduling and record-keeping.
- Ensure all transportation records are up to date and accessible for audits or internal review.
- Proven experience in school transportation management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
- Familiarity with FMCSA, MCS-150 forms, and the Clearinghouse.
- Experience with routing, Microsoft Office 365 and email.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements (not required but a plus).
- 5 years experience working in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance protocols and budgeting.
