Minimum Experience / Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

At least three years experience related to the fiscal management of federal and state funds, intermediate knowledge of Excel, and experience with various business systems, such as Banner, e-Procurement, Chrome River, and electronic personnel action forms.

Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
This position works with the Budget Manager to manage the day-to-day business functions associated with the Agricultural Research program, which has an operating budget of approximately $18M. Primary duties include : reviewing and approving expenditure requests for payroll, travel, equipment, supplies, and services; posting financial transactions to an extensive Excel ledger for over 30 research projects; and reconciling expenditures to the University's accounting system.

Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work.Through our Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, we are able to research issues of importance to North Carolina and also provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world.

- Manage well-defined purchasing and accounting functions for the Agricultural Research program
- Use Aggie-Mart, Chrome River, Banner, MS Excel and other technologies to monitor procurement, reconcile accounts, and maintain records related to expenditures using Ag Research federal, state, and discretionary funds
- Review, analyze and collect information to track purchasing order status and monitor vendor payments
- Analyze data for accuracy to identify and solve problems
- Perform research, data collection and analysis of information from various systems to provide reports to management
- Maintain the department's Excel financial transactions database to make sure it is accurate and up to date at all times
- Maintains copies of payroll authorizations, purchase requisitions, procurement card statements, and travel / petty cash / check requests
- Processes sensitive information related to employment
- Provide quarterly expense reports to PIs
