Description of Work

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.
Located at the South Central Regional Office, the position reports to this position will provide clerical support for the Operations Manager, Security Coordinator, and Programs Coordinator and performs as the main switchboard operator.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performing typing, filing, data entry, and other administrative duties, as assigned.
Maintaining records using a personal computer and a systematic filing system.
Performing daily contact with staff, offender, and the general public.
Using a variety of office machines to include copiers, fax, and scanners.
Maintaining a variety of records and documents.
Handling confidential and sensitive information for inclusion in correspondence and personnel related issues.
Dispensing correspondence and other information to staff, processing mail, and handling routine office activities.
Communicating both orally and in writing with staff, government officials, management, and general public.
This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on February 10, 2025.
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $28,194.00 - $49,340.00. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply to be considered for this increase.

The South Central Region Office is located in Raeford, North Carolina. The South Central Region includes Albemarle Correctional Institution (CI), Columbus CI, Harnett CI, Lumberton CI, Richmond CI, New Hanover Correctional Center (CC), Pender CI, Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center, Sampson CI, Sanford CC, Scotland CI, Southern CI, and Tabor CI.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the Description of Work section of their application that they possess ALL of the following were applicable:
