What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Captain II - Franklin Correctional position at North Carolina Adult Correction?
Description of Work
- Providing supervision for subordinate staff.
- Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
- Completing, reviewing and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.
- Accounting for persons and funds and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
- Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff.
- Conducting investigations and developing prison operational emergency plans and post orders.
Supervising offenders in facilities that may include restrictive housing and management of off-site activities when in the community for extended periods of time.
Enforcing security policies and procedures, perform on-the-job training, assign and supervise custody staff, and coordinate administrative affairs within the facility.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
