Locations: Cabarrus, Catawba, Cumberland, Durham, Guilford, Mecklenburg, Orange, Union and Wake; Applicants must have the ability to travel within one of the aforementioned counties and do not need to travel between counties.

About the Positions: NCAAT & NCAAT in Action are looking for passionate, socially confident, reliable individuals to be advocates and champions for political themes of social justice and local issues for our community. This is a temporary seasonal position that will run through the summer with the possibility to continue into the fall based on the needs of our campaigns for our deep canvassing program.
The Deep Canvassing Lead will lead and coordinate a team of canvassers, ensuring that the deep canvassing strategy is executed effectively and with empathy. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of canvassing teams, ensuring the team is trained and motivated, and analyzing data to continually improve canvassing efforts. The lead will also play a key role in shaping the campaign’s approach to engagement and persuasion through deep canvassing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage admin tasks such as keeping track of canvasser time sheets and their work schedule
- Responsible for tracking canvassers making sure they are following the canvassing rules properly and are following all of the required procedures
- Track turfs done by each person ensuring that each turf has been completed and data has been reported to the Voter Engagement Manager
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Work with Voter Engagement Manager to help manage, train, and mentor a team of deep canvassers. Provide ongoing support to team members, ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to have meaningful conversations, and maintain morale
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with voters, volunteers, and community members through canvassing. Use deep canvassing insights to shape future outreach strategies and to ensure a consistent and authentic campaign message
- Logistical Coordination: Oversee the logistical aspects of canvassing operations, including canvassing routes, volunteer scheduling, and distribution of materials. Ensure that canvassing activities are well-organized and executed efficiently
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues in the field, whether logistical or interpersonal, and offer solutions that keep the campaign on track
- Adaptability & Flexibility: Deep canvassing often requires adjusting strategies based on voter feedback. The manager must be flexible and creative in adjusting the campaign's approach as needed
- Commitment to Social Change: Strong belief in the mission and goals of the campaign, and a passion for creating meaningful connections that lead to long-term behavioral change
- Management Skills: Leadership, effective communication skills, strategic thinking, organization and time management, problem solving skills, decision making skills, conflict management skills, emotional intelligence
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build rapport quickly and communicate empathetically and persuasively
- Active Listening: Comfortable listening deeply to others without interrupting or making judgments
- Open-Mindedness: Willingness to engage with people who may hold very different views, and the ability to be non-judgmental and respectful of diverse perspectives
