Primary Purpose of Position
This position administers and directs programs which ensure the appropriate operation of all University facilities and grounds. Also, assists with managing the business unit that supports the operation. Responsible for the management and oversight of building use, stewardship and operation. Provides continuous analysis and effectiveness of service contracts and establishes direction for functional policies and procedures impacting areas of facilities operations and business management. A primary duty is the management of other managers / supervisors and skilled staff. Areas that report to this position include building environmental services, grounds management, , inventory.
The Assistant Director of Facilities Operations and Administration develops constructive relationships with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and peers and presents the goals, objectives, and service philosophy of Facilities Operations and Administration to the campus community. This position works as a team member with the Assistant Director of Utilities and Maintenance, and promotes a team mentality across all units within Facilities Operations and Administration to develop, support, and implement the goals and objectives of Facilities Operations and Administration. The Assistant Director provides personnel management for facilities personnel under their purview.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of general facilities management and operations experience preferably with supervision; or an equivalent combination of training and relevant work and supervisory experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Minimum Education / Experience Graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of general facilities management and operations experience preferably with supervision; or an equivalent combination of training and relevant work and supervisory experience. Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation Professional, Planning and Organizing Work, Program Management, Safety and Health Management, Strategic Planning, Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Career and / or Talent Development. Technical skills in building and grounds maintenance, Project management. Ability to supervise technical trades supervisor, and contract administration, and manage multiple tasks.
