Description of Work
This Correction Enterprise Supervisor I will serve as a Laundry Production Supervisor at the Correction Enterprises Craggy Laundry Facility located in Asheville, NC. The primary purpose of the Craggy Laundry is to provide Laundry services for the Department of Adult Correction and other tax-supported agencies. The Correction Enterprise Supervisor I is responsible for training inmates in the safe, proper, and most efficient operation of equipment and practices utilized in a laundry production environment, while ensuring quality and quantity standards in accordance with applicable laws, policies and procedures. This employee will organize and direct work assignments of inmates. Responsibilities include supervision of laundry production including receiving, sorting soiled linens, weighing, washing, Drying, ironing, folding, and visual inspection of finished/packaged products. The Correction Enterprise Supervisor I provides inmates with orientation/training of plant procedures and safety training. Training includes proper use of machinery, safety/proper handling of laundry, infection control, laundry chemicals, and maintaining good housekeeping practices. This position is also responsible for reporting daily offender time records.
Must have a valid NC Driver License.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits
As of January 1, 2025 there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $35,984 - $62,971. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
Necessary Special Qualifications
- Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility.
- Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.

Plant Specific Special Requirements
Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
Cannery - Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification
Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire
