The primary purpose of the Inventory Assistant is to issue uniforms and/or equipment either by direct issue to NC State Highway Patrol Troopers visiting the warehouse or by packaging individual orders and sending them to NCSHP Troop locations. The assigned work location is X7 Logistics Uniform Warehouse in Raleigh, NC (Wake County).

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. About North Carolina State Highway Patrol - Logistics Unit
The mission of the State Highway Patrol is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people in North Carolina. The X7 Logistics Unit is responsible for: 1) Managing and providing service to all law enforcement vehicles within the Department (including mechanical, body shop, equipment installs), 2) Managing all occupied facilities and capital improvement projects, 3) Managing and distributing the purchases of all patrol equipment and supplies other than technology products, 4) Managing the inventory of all equipment and supplies, 5) Tracking and handling of all reimbursement requests on patrol car damages, and 6) Managing and tracking all fuel purchases and invoices.

Job responsibilities/tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintaining the warehouse by stocking shelves, straightening specific areas on a routine schedule, and/or moving supplies from outlying storage areas into the main warehouse.
- Receiving, counting, and preparing merchandise for issue, including any data entry necessary to accomplish this objective.
- Assisting the Warehouse Supervisor in ordering of uniforms and equipment as needed and all paperwork associated with these processes.
- Climbing ladders, climbing in and out of the delivery truck, and crouching and/or reaching to stock top and bottom shelves.
- Lifting, loading and unloading heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs.) and other supplies.
- Operating small delivery vehicles such as a mini-van or pickup truck.
- Operating a forklift, tow motor, hand truck and/or pallet jack as necessary.
- Organizing supplies in the warehouse.
- Utilizing an adding machine/calculator, copier, telephone, fax machine and computer.
