The primary purpose of this position is to resolve facility maintenance issues in state-owned buildings within the Division of Highways and Division of Motor Vehicles that are managed by the Facilities Management Division. The employee works under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Employee must have an excellent knowledge of building codes in his area of responsibility and perform at the journey level in at least two trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or plastering). This position may also be required to work at other facilities as directed by the Supervisor or lead mechanic. Unscheduled overtime may be required during building emergencies. This position is subject to emergency or after hours call back to assist with building emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays. Employee is expected to be present at work during inclement weather conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two (2) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
