As a NC Education Corps Member, you will work part-time, IN PERSON DURING SCHOOL HOURS at an elementary school in Chatham County (Siler City Elementary, Bonlee Elementary, Virginia Cross Elementary).

To follow the high impact tutoring model, you will work at least 3 days a week, with 1-3 students for 30 minutes at a time. This work will support K-5 students with their foundational MATH or READING skills.

A background in education is not required, because you will be supported by a NCEC learning coach who will provide training, professional development, and support throughout the school year. You will become an employee of Chatham County Schools, and as such will be paid hourly.

All tutors will participate in required professional learning during the school year. A paid initial training will be required upon employment start date with the opportunity to opt into monthly professional development. Additionally, your NCEC Learning Coach will offer the opportunity for coaching calls and school-based site visits.

Step 3: If recommended by the NCEC team to the school district, next steps may include: submitting the district’s application to apply to become a part-time employee, completing an interview with the principal or district’s team, and completing a criminal background check, drug screening, and other employment forms.
