What are the responsibilities and job description for the K - 5 Reading Tutor, Montgomery County Schools (NC Education Corps) position at North Carolina Education Corps?
As a NC Education Corps Member, you will work part-time, in-person in an assigned elementary school in Montgomery County, NC. To follow the high impact tutoring model, you will work at least 3 days a week, with 1-3 students for 30 minutes at a time. This work will support K-5 students with their foundational literacy skills. Tutors will focus on the five pillars of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
A background in education is not required, because you will be supported by a NCEC learning coach who will provide training, professional development, and support throughout the school year. You will become an employee of the selected NC school district and as such will be paid hourly (pay rates vary by district).
All corps members (CMs) will participate in required professional learning during the school year. A paid initial training will be required upon employment start date with the opportunity to opt into monthly professional development from October through April. Additionally, your NCEC Learning Coach will offer the opportunity for coaching calls and school-based site visits.
Exact dates and times for any learning and onboarding will be shared once you have been hired.
