Union County Public Schools JOB SUMMARY : Under general supervision, the Electronics Technician will oversee the functionality of a multitude of operating systems, i.e. fire, security, within school buildings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Install, diagnose and inspect electronics and electronic systems utilizing specifications, diagrams, drawings and verbal / written directions.
2. Ensure local, state and national electrical codes are observed and adequate materials are utilized throughout electronic systems.
3. Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, i.e. school administration, regarding work order requests, preventive maintenance and electrical safety.
4. Instruct employees regarding safe work practices, procedures and requirements when working with electronic equipment and components.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accurately maintain records, as required by state or federal laws, and Union County Board of Education policies, and adhere to confidentiality requirements of state and federal law.
2. Perform repairs with accurate troubleshooting on systems such as but not limited to security system, fire alarms, intercom systems, data and communication wiring, telephone and special purpose equipment.
3. Document work order requests with appropriate information regarding time, materials and resolution.
4. Utilize logical methods for repair and takes appropriate action to address needs, problem or concern.
5. Install and manage building cables and wiring, splicing as deemed appropriate.
6. Create or adapt parts to make repairs and / or improve the performance of electronic equipment
