Manager of the Artist Innovation Mentorship Program

North Carolina Museum of Art Foundation
Raleigh, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 2/20/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/18/2025
Description:

The outreach programs of the North Carolina Museum of Art celebrate the learning that happens when artists work directly with young people. The Artist Innovation Mentorship Program (AIM) provides funding and organizational support for opportunities for creative growth beyond the middle-school day. Young artists learn new techniques and build their creative problem-solving skills as they work with artists in their own communities.

The AIM program operates on a logic model whose outputs emphasize the creation of a growth mindset in young people supported by active mentorship from working artists.

With the support of the staff of the NCMA, led by the Manager of AIM, afterschool programs are co-created with diverse partners in counties across the state of North Carolina. The program’s focus on rural communities leads to partnerships with middle-school principals, school superintendents, classroom teachers, and social service providers. A high level of professionalism and verbal and written communication skills are required to build and maintain these relationships. Necessary skills in this role include active listening, empathetic collaboration, and the intellectual flexibility to co-create what is needed for each program site after a comprehensive understanding of community resources is created.

The Manager of AIM is also responsible for supporting an assistant manager who ensures the quality of artistic instruction provided though the program is upheld in each residency.
