About the Department | The Poole College of Management offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, and economics. The Office of Undergraduate Programs within Poole College promotes and supports the holistic development of Poole College students as leaders in our diverse, global community. In partnership with our faculty, staff and external constituents, we provide the resources necessary to empower students to make well-informed decisions in support of their academic, professional and personal development. Our resources are provided in an environment that fosters recognition of and respect for individuals and cultural competence. The Office of Undergraduate Programs supports our undergraduate student resource units in the Poole College of Management including academic advising, global programming and career and internship development. Our academic advisors act as a catalyst for students to achieve their best outcomes, providing developmentally focused advising that incorporates both curricular and co-curricular guidance. Our academic advisors are instrumental in the whole student experience from the academic requirements necessary to progress to graduation to the full breadth and depth of co-curricular offerings within our College that allow students to be as competitive as possible upon graduation. |
Essential Job Duties | The primary role of the Academic Advisor is to advise undergraduate students in the Poole College of Management regarding academic requirements (matriculation through graduation), course selection and registration, and other issues related to academic and student success. The Academic Advisor will work collaboratively in our - shared model of academic advising. The Academic Advisor will regularly assist in the implementation and facilitation of the personal and professional identity development course taught to undergraduate students each academic year. The Academic Advisor will support various efforts in the Office of Undergraduate Programs as needed (including orientation, welcome week, commencement) as well as other Advising programmatic responsibilities. |
