The Academic Success Center facilitates degree completion by providing a comprehensive variety of free programs and resources that promote academic skill development and independent learning within the university environment
Essential Job Duties
The Director leads the development and implementation of the Academic Success Center located in Hill Library. This position is housed within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA). The Director is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track staff (EPS) position.
Specific duties include:
- Administration (40%)
- Oversee the ASC’s budget, including managing multiple projects from various funding sources
- Pursue and maintain appropriate national certifications for ASC programs
- Pursue development opportunities
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the unit through an assessment plan
- Leverage technology with the Navigate platform to offer student appointment scheduling, attendance tracking, staff reporting, and unit assessment
- Supervision (30%)
- Supervise permanent and student staff to offer tutor training, 1:1 and group tutoring by appointment, drop-in tutoring, supplemental instruction, writing consultations, and academic peer mentoring
- Programming (20%)
- Facilitate workshops, classroom visits, and social media avenues to promote services to campus partners, parents, and students
- Lead partnerships with Hill Library events, including student scavenger hunts, constituent tours, and Welcome Week and Exam Wellness Week student programming
- Collaborate with campus partners offering drop in services in the ASC space (currently Career Counseling, Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising, and Change of Major Advising).
- Teaching (10%)
- Oversee the curriculum and instruction for a one-credit tutor-training course
Other Responsibilities
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Masters Degree in higher education, student development, instructional administration, education, business, counseling or related field
- Five years of job-related experience
Other Required Qualifications
- Familiar with recent research and scholarship on tutoring and supplemental instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in a relevant field
- Training as a tutor and/or supplemental instruction supervisor
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of assessment methods and online tutoring methods
