Essential Job Duties
The UNC Upward Bound Program is a federally funded TRiO Program designed to help Scholars develop the skills and motivation necessary to pursue and succeed in college, ultimately attaining a Bachelor’s Degree. Each summer, the program hosts a comprehensive 6-week Academy that emphasizes academic enrichment, professional development, and personal growth opportunities.
THRIVE Course Overview
THRIVE is a dynamic course developed by the UNC Upward Bound Program to promote holistic student development while providing practical college preparation tools.
Throughout the course, Scholars will be encouraged to think critically about themselves, their relationships, their communities, and the world around them. They will also receive tangible strategies and insights to support their success in post-secondary settings.
The course will be co-instructed by the Upward Bound Program Counselor and a THRIVE Coach, offering well-rounded support and mentorship for every Scholar. The THRIVE Coach will collaborate with a dedicated team of CHEOP/Upward Bound staff, academic instructors, and a college prep coach to support the success of the Summer Academy.
The 6-week Summer Program will run from June 21, 2025, to August 1, 2025. All student evaluations are due by August 8, 2025.
