What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Aide position at NORTH CENTRAL CARE CENTER INC?
- This position is on an as needed basis and hours will vary from week to week, this is not a full time position.
Under the supervision of the Medical Records Director, the Transportation Aide accompanies Residents to and from medical appointments.
Job Duties
- Rides with Resident to and from their appointment.
- Assists Resident with seating, assistive devices, and is aware of safety and behavioral concerns. Ensures foot pedals are in place on the Residents wheelchair prior to leaving facility.
- Ensures that Resident is properly dressed for the weather prior to exiting the facility and retrieves needed items for the resident.
- Ensures that Resident has appropriate paperwork to take with them to their appointment.
- Will stay with Resident during their appointment and help to answer questions the provider may have if the Resident allows.
- Will assist with filling out any paperwork that the Resident needs completed.
- Ensures that follow up appointment information is given to the appropriate person upon return to the facility.
- Helps Resident back to their room after return to facility and places call light within reach of Resident.
- Must be respectful to Residents, visitors, co-workers and interact appropriately for this setting. Residents and proper care are the number one priority for this facility.
- Must possess a positive attitude and understand the importance of teamwork.
- Reports any suspicions or allegations of abuse of neglect to the LN right away.
- Demonstrates the ability to locate emergency equipment.
- Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with North Central Care Center policies.
- Understands and practices standard precautions for infection control and utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment at all times during care.
- Follow facility dress and hygiene policies.
- Follows all Safety rules and regulations and reports violations immediately.
- Knows and follows the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Knows and follows HIPAA regulations.
- Reports all suspected violation of companys HIPAA policies or procedures to Unit Manager or DON.
- Provides and delivers resident care duties as assigned in a timely manner.
Essential Functions

- Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Education: Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: One year of experience in long term care setting is preferred but not required.
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Meets all health requirements, as required by law. Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other center staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
