Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College is recruiting for a full-time faculty position Assistant Professor of Mathematics, (Specialization : Statistics) at the Assistant / Associate / Full level.
The duties in this role include :
- Provide instruction for a variety of mathematics and statistics courses, including introductory calculus, MATH 360 Mathematical Statistics, and MATH 450 Data Analytics.
- Carry a teaching load of 20 credits per year. Assess students' work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve their content knowledge, critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, etc.
- Develop curricula for courses, minors, graduate certificates, and potential majors in statistics, data science, and data analytics by coordinating with other academic departments to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of students in a wide range of academic areas.
- Mentor undergraduate students through one-on-one and group interactions and independent study opportunities.
- Engage students in research as applicable.
- Attend conferences and workshops as necessary to remain active in the field(s) of study; engage with the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence to further develop teaching and mentoring skills; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
- Pursue current and new research activities in the field(s) of study. This will include new research projects, writing / dissemination of current and future research, and presentation of research at conferences.
- Current research interests include statistics, data science and data analytics.
- Perform other departmental duties and attend activities as necessary, including attending department meetings, and participating in committees, task forces, and others as required.

The salary range for this position : $75,000 - $85,000.
