Description of Job Duties
This GA position will assist the Director of the Center for Financial Literacy at North Central College ("Director").
Job duties will be as assigned by the Director. Students in this GA position will have daily opportunities to refine their leadership, project management, event planning, and strategic communication / outreach skills through interactions with college and high school students, college and high school teachers and administrators, and other community partners. Students will develop skills in relationship building, designing, and running programs in front of live audience, coordination and management of NCC undergraduate student workers and volunteers. These skills are essential for leadership positions. This position will also assist in other projects as they relate to oversight of the Director which may include responsibilities related to the college's CFA program, wealth management program, and other SBE programs. Collaboration will be expected with other stakeholders on campus which may include, but are not limited to, Advancement and Development, Cardinal First, Marketing and Communications, Graduate Studies, undergraduate student organizations.
This GA position will also provide ample public speaking opportunities as well as the opportunity to design games and activities for large and small groups of people. Given the focus of the Center's programming is on high school and college students, The Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership is directly applicable. This GA position will be responsible for much of the running and administration of the Center for Financial Literacy and will learn first hand how to manage budgets, raise funds through fundraising, and work with internal and external stakeholders which makes the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership directly applicable. The content focus of the Center for Financial Literacy is economics and personal finance, which is directly applicable to business students in the Master of Business Administration.
The Center for Financial Literacy is at the heart of North Central's strategic plan. The Center is a distinctive feature aimed at developing the financial wellness of the campus, with a focus on undergraduate students, as well as the community, with a focus on K-12 students. This GA position focuses on not only developing NCC student learning but high impact practices in and out of the classroom. The Center is the result of the College "investing in programs and practices that promote student success" through an increase in financial knowledge which empowers students to make healthy financial decisions. In fact, the Center has been awarded one of the best 20 Centers for economic of financial education in the United States. Center programming, which will be led by this GA, is centered on Diversity and Inclusion. The Center has specific programs geared towards first generation students, education majors, and other cohorts on and off campus. Through these programs, the Center is at the center of the College's Culture of Excellence as it strives to improve the positive experience of our students, faculty, and staff.

- Be comfortable talking in front of large and small groups of people
- Demonstrate effective writing, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with short turnarounds.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, listen carefully, communicate and advocate effectively in a complex matrix organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously & as a team member
- Ability to break an assigned project down into parts, establish timelines, and follow tasks through to quality completion
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Knowledge of personal financial topics desired
