Peer Health Educators are a diverse group of NCC students trained and certified to educate their classmates about college health and wellness in an informative, fun, interactive, non-judgmental manner. The PHEs are dedicated to providing health and wellness education with sensitivity to race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, and individual capabilities.
How are PHEs trained?
PHEs receive comprehensive Bacchus peer health training which will prepare the PHE to facilitate dynamic outreach programs, create informative awareness events, and promote and support a healthy campus culture. A BACCHUS certificate is received upon successful completion of training. Ongoing collaboration and training with the Dyson Wellness Center staff occurs throughout the term.
Qualifications Of a PHE
A minimum commitment of one academic year is required with approximately 3-10 hours per week. This time will involve varied work environments, including individual and group work. The actual time commitment will vary during the year depending upon projects assigned.

- Mandatory attendance at weekly meetings. These take place all weeks while classes are in session on Tuesdays from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
- Design, organize and participate in campus-wide awareness activities and outreach programs.
- Design and distribute promotional materials.
- Work individually and with other PHEs on tasks as assigned.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of future PHE's.
- Assist in collection of statistical data to evaluate effectiveness of programs.
- Identify community members at-risk and follow protocols expected of all North Central College employees.
- Maintain confidentiality expected at the Dyson Wellness Center.
- Support departmental goals of the Dyson Wellness Center.

- Must be a full-time NCC student.
- Demonstrate a strong interest and enthusiasm in promoting healthy behaviors among the College community with sincere concern for others.
- Ability to speak publicly in a positive, engaging, interactive, nonjudgmental way.
- Mandatory completion of Dyson Wellness Center Student Worker Training.
- Mandatory attendance at ongoing training sessions.
- Mandatory attendance at weekly meetings and planning sessions.
