Job Title: Behavior Specialist
Location: NCOESC service areas (Tiffin, Marion, and Mansfield)
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent

Job Summary:
The Behavior Specialist is responsible for supporting individuals with behavioral challenges by assessing their needs and developing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to promote positive behavior and improve overall functioning. The Behavior Specialist works collaboratively with individuals, families, teachers, caregivers, and other professionals to implement strategies that address behavioral concerns in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct behavioral assessments to identify and analyze problem behaviors and their contributing factors.
- Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on assessment results, ensuring they are tailored to the needs of each individual.
- Implement behavior interventions in a variety of environments, monitoring progress and making adjustments as necessary.
- Provide training and support to families, teachers, and other staff on behavioral strategies and interventions.
- Work closely with other professionals (e.g., psychologists, social workers, educators) to develop comprehensive treatment plans for individuals.
- Track and document progress, behavior data, and outcomes, reporting regularly to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Support individuals in building functional skills, coping strategies, and appropriate social behaviors.
- Stay updated on best practices and evidence-based interventions in the field of behavioral health.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical standards related to client care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
- Certification in behavior analysis (e.g., BCBA, BCaBA) preferred, or willingness to pursue certification.
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral disorders, autism, developmental disabilities, or similar challenges.
- Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to analyze complex behavioral data and create actionable strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for position).
Clearances: Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to engage with individuals in various settings, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- May be required to manage challenging behaviors in an appropriate and safe manner.
Working Conditions:
- The position may require travel to clients' homes, schools, or community settings.
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings or weekends, may be necessary depending on client needs.
