What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrections Officer position at North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center?
NCORC Rehabilitation Advisor (Juvenile Corrections Officer)
We are currently accepting applications/resumes for a Rehab Advisor (Corrections Officer). We are a juvenile community corrections facility. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Minimum work experience: Some experience working with juveniles preferred. Experience working in a correctional setting also preferred, but not necessary. Here is the position description:
1. The supervision of NCORC youth, including documentation of behaviors in relation to Thinking Errors - utilizing the point books and/or computer
2. Completing all necessary documentation (i.e. incident reports, memos, progress notes, behavior reports, daily counts, etc.) in a timely manner.
3. Aiding youth with school work and group assignments
4. Transporting youth to and from medical appointments and court hearings. Also accompanying youth to community service assignments and any other places as deemed necessary.
5. Facilitating or Co-facilitating one or more groups, including preparation for each group (i.e. checking, following group curriculum and making copies)
6. Filling in for staff who are off sick or on vacation, including the teaching staff (i.e. following lesson plans and organizing paperwork turned in by youth)
7. Conducting youth bed checks in various situations, including seclusion, suicide watches, and when youth are in their rooms for more than 20 minutes
8. Completing all duties as assigned on the Post Orders
9. Aiding in the preparation of youth meals and snacks, when deemed necessary
10. Providing verbal de-escalation and non-violent physical crisis intervention (Subject Control) when situations arise
11. Conducting searches of youth, their rooms, and/or their personal belongings when needed
12. Assisting with and conducting youth drug screens where applicable
13. Responding to emergency situations as necessary - ERT, CPR/First Aid/AED, etc. (assuring policy and procedure is followed closely in each case)
14. Completing youth laundry and bedding as needed
15. Completing facility clean up as scheduled or when needed
16. Assuring that the program schedule is followed closely
17. Attend all staff meetings/trainings
18. All other duties as assigned by Lead RA, Supervisors and/or Administrative Staff
19. Assuring proper care, welfare, safety, and security for staff as well as the youth that reside at NCORC.
Job Type: Full-time Starting Pay: $17.00/Hr.
