What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet and Facilities Worker - Taos position at North Central Regional Transit District?
Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine maintenance and custodial duties related to the day-to-day upkeep of District facilities and vehicles; and performs related work as required.
- Cleans and maintains District properties; maintains grounds and landscaping at various District facilities including shelters and bus stops; performs inspections of and maintains bus shelters, signage, and trash receptacles.
- Performs snowplowing of parking lots and bus pull outs as needed; shovels snow from sidewalks and shelters as needed.
- Assists in shuttling buses and other District vehicle inventory to needed service sites or to deliver to maintenance locations; safely operates a variety of vehicles and buses to and from repair facilities when repairs and servicing is required; washes fleet vehicles and details interiors of fleet vehicles as required; performs routine maintenance such as bulb replacements and graffiti removal as needed.
- Assists in repairing and maintaining building fixtures and furniture; assists in repairs and maintenance of toilets, sinks, water fountains, and drainage pipes; assists in replacing or installing doors, locks, windows, and related hardware; assists with replacement of burned out or non-functioning lighting fixtures both internally and externally.
- Assists in maintaining building safety features; documents fire extinguisher inspections; ensures security systems are functional and operating; checks for and reports signs of vandalism and theft.
- Serves as a member of the Fleet Operations maintenance team; pre and post trips vehicles, collecting debris and equipment;
- Fuels or charges vehicles.
- Assists as a mechanic helper; provides hands-on help to mechanics engaged in complex operations.
- Observes and complies with all District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
- One (1) year of general janitorial, maintenance, landscaping, and/or related experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within six (6) months of employment, a valid State of New Mexico Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A or B) with multi-passenger “P” endorsement and airbrake certification, to be maintained throughout employment.
