North Central Texas College is seeking applications for a part-time Nursing Skills Laboratory Resource Specialist position in the Nursing Department. The Nursing Skills Laboratory Resource Specialist will serve as a resource mentor in the skills labs for remediation of high-risk students, assist with but not limited to assisting/supervising LVN and ADN students in skills practice and demonstration; maintaining student attendance; coordinating with the faculty an inventory of supplies and equipment; and ensuring ongoing compliance with standards of safety rules and regulations.
This is a part-time position with no more than 19 hours of week.
This is a 100% grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent on continued grant funding.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create a learning environment that enhances the student’s ability to use conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize research and literature findings to integrate best practices into the lab instruction.
- Prepare skills lab demonstrations and learning activities in coordination with instructors.
- Provide resources in the skills lab for mastery of psychomotor and clinical reasoning skills.
- Assist and supervise students to ensure that lab experiences meet course outcomes.
- Work closely with faculty to plan teaching strategies that will increase the student’s ability to meet clinical skill requirements.
- Assist in developing formal lab skill assessments to meet the course outcomes.
- Provide feedback and evaluate student skills assessments in coordination with faculty-LVN only.
- Serve as a resource mentor for remediation of high-risk students identified by faculty.
- Maintain records of student attendance and skill performance in the laboratory.
- Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.
Required Education
Bachelors degree in Nursing required
Master’s degree in nursing, doctoral degree or enrolled in a doctoral program preferred
Possession of (or eligible for) RN licensure in the State of Texas
Master’s degree in nursing, doctoral degree or enrolled in a doctoral program preferred
Possession of (or eligible for) RN licensure in the State of Texas
Required Skills & Abilities
Must be knowledgeable in writing across the curriculum, study skill techniques, and communicate well with others.

Teaching experience preferred
Two (2) years of clinical nursing as an RN required
