Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide holistic student support in a student-facing format through scheduled and walk-in meetings, outreach, and cross-College initiatives. The Success Coach will conduct assessments, process data, perform special projects, and maintain current knowledge on transferability and trends with college credit. The Success Coach will provide input on best practices for student services, and serve as the subject matter expert on their assigned majors or programs.

- Meet with students in different formats (in-person, phone or virtual) to go over registration, current goals, and future transfer/employment goals and increasing student retention through transformational student coaching sessions. Encouraging student success by mentoring students with methods and strategies designed to promote growth mindset
- Organizes and responds to student emails and text messages through our departmental and personal inboxes to assist with registration, change of major, withdrawals, connecting them to their assigned advisors for appointments in order to maintain enrollment and connections with our students.
- Responding to Early Alerts from faculty regarding students at risk
- Connects with each program chair and communicating, gathering information and making sure our students are aware of the academic program requirements to ensure they are successful and can apply & graduate from NCTC.
- Different advisors work in different internal groups such the Transfer Team, the Change of Major Team, Academic Recovery Team, Early Alerts Team
- Connects students to internal resources that assist them in reaching their goals such as counseling, tutoring, Office for Students with Disabilities, TRIO, the Career Center, the Completion Center, and Financial Aid.
- Connecting with students on academic suspension, reviewing academic history, and providing holistic plan of action for academic recovery.
- Serve on internal committee(s) and participate in professional development and staff training.
- Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.

Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications (J1 Desktop, J1 Advising, Docubase, Microsoft products)
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work appropriately and to re-prioritize quickly as needed.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively.
- Considerable knowledge of College policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
- Work in a fast-moving environment during peak periods while maintaining standards/accuracy.
- Ability to assess students’ needs (in and out of classroom) and provide relevant resources. Understanding of the community/counties served and their specific needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to student privacy laws.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Required Experience
- One (1) year of experience in administrative management, student support services, or related field.
- Advanced knowledge of computer technology and software applications in order to utilize specific software related to student advisement.
Preferred Experience
- Two (2) years experience in the field of education, student services, and/or service to the public preferred
