Today's North Charleston Sewer District was originally established in 1972 by an Act of the South Carolina General Assembly. Previously, wastewater collection and treatment in the North Area were accomplished by a consolidated public service district. Now operating under a nine-member Commission, the District is committed to "...construction, operation, maintenance and enlargement of...sewers and sewage treatment and disposal...necessary to protect the health of those living in the District, and to provide for the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage and industrial effluent."
Job Description:
The North Charleston Sewer District is looking to add a Materials Coordinator position effective immediately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Orders central stock items; recommends items to stock/not to stock; recommends quantity to keep on hand; places ordered stock on shelf; and issues items.
· Checks out and logs in uniforms at locations.
· Receives and prepares shipments.
· Coordinates (as directed) with cardholders to ensure correct implementation of purchasing card program; performs on-line comparisons to actual receipts; ensures field purchase order matches receipts; resolves disputes which may arise; contacts vendors/suppliers to obtain lost or corrected receipts when necessary.

Education and Experience:
· High School diploma;
· One (1) year of related experience that includes purchasing and inventory control; or
- Equivalent education, training, and/or experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
· Valid South Carolina Driver’s License
Special Qualifications:
· Able to use or learn to use a variety of equipment and machinery such as forklift, scale, pallet jack, hand truck, strapping materials, telephone, calculator, desktop computer, printer, monitor, etc.; a variety of tools such as scale, engraver, banding tools, etc.; a variety of supplies such as strapping materials, paper, packing tape, general office supplies, etc.; and a variety of computer software such as Purchasing/Inventory, Fuel reporting Fuel leak detection, UPS Shipping, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
