What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Technician position at North Coast Education Services?
ABOUT US: North Coast Education Services was founded in 1985. For the past thirty years, we have been known as “The Education Problem Solvers”. Our independent contractor tutors serve students of all ages and subjects. They specialize in working with students with learning differences. NCES is an Ohio Department of Education-approved provider to the Autism and Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarships.
Tutors go to the client! All individual services are provided in the home or convenient nearby facilities. Our tutors serve schools and school districts on-site at their locations.
WHAT: Behavior Technician -- RBT to work with two home-educated 7-year-old nonverbal Autistic students (one boy and one girl). The girl uses a spell to communication devise to communicate. The family is going to acquire an alternate Communication Device for the students. (The device has not bee selected yet) The girl is more focused and even spell multi-syllabic words. She also has a feeding tube. The boy paces and is self-injurious. The boy loves music including Mozart, Yanni and also enjoys videos. Neither of the children is potty trained and will be a goal for them.
Both children are not injurious to others. The boy only injures himself. The girl is well behaved.
Curriculum: In addition to working on behaviors, we have specific curriculum for academics including a reading video series and TouchMath. We will also be placing the children with an occupational and speech therapist.
WHEN: Weekdays between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm.
TRAINING: Behavior Technician -- RBT will receive training provided by a COBA/Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Intervention Specialist. Additional training in multisensory systematic curriculum available. The reading video series is self-teaching. We have some video training for TouchMath too.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- must have 2 or more years’ experience handling clients with Behavior problem or is a Registered Behavior Technician, or Board of Education licensed teacher.
- must have 2 or more years of college as documented with official transcript or diploma, preferably in psychology, sociology, OT, PT, speech, education or related major.
- must be willing to undergo BCI and FBI background checks
- must have transportation to the children's home in Parma
- must have patience, creativity, flexibility, and tenacity for this position.
- Tutors who do not have weekday availabilty, for in-person tutoring need not apply.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 17 per week
