About The Position
Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM PT, Monday to Friday
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Position Summary
The Dispensing Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for effectively assisting patients, caregivers, prescribers, and coworkers on the phones, for accurate and efficient prescription filling, and for being compliant with all State and Federal Pharmacy laws.
In this document, “Pharmacy Leadership” includes Lead Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technician Supervisors,
COP and Pharmacy Manager.
Essential Functions
The Dispensing Pharmacy Technician I is expected to fulfill the following roles as necessary to meet the demands of the daily Pharmacy workload.
As Dispensing Pharmacy Technician I
Must always have a copy of current, active State Pharmacy Technician license displayed in lobby.
- Assists in creating and printing prescription labels if required.
- Thoroughly reviews prescriptions for authenticity and completeness. Consults Pharmacist if there is any doubt.
- Accurately and efficiently fills prescriptions for pharmacist review, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.
- Aids Pharmacist in clarifying prescriptions for completeness and clarity.
- Obtains pharmacist check of prescriptions 100% of the time, prior to prescription packaging for shipping.
- Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the pharmacy.
- Ensures Pharmacy shelves are well-stocked, and always notifies Shipping leads or Manager when stock levels are inadequate for shipping demands.
- Is occasionally assigned other tasks such as printing signs, assisting with inventory, etc. as needed.
- Adapts quickly to frequent process changes and improvements.
- Is reliable, engaged, and provides feedback as to improve processes and policies.
- Attends all department, team, and company meetings as required.

When required: As Administrative Pharmacy Technician:
- Performs all Pharmacy duties professionally and efficiently.
- Thoroughly follows all departmental and company policies and procedures and instructions, and updates in Pharmacy Staff meeting minutes.
- Regularly checks company emails for updates and follows them.
- Completes training and P&P reviews in a timely manner.
- Does not consult patients about their prescription products.
- Does not obtain verbal orders for prescriptions.
- Avoids obstruction of a patient in obtaining a prescription item that has been legally prescribed them. If the pharmacist determines that the item may cause harm to the patient, then the prescriber will be contacted for alternative therapy or verify the current therapy will be safe for the patient.
- Completes all assigned company and department training, tests, reviews, projects, and other tasks in a timely manner and within time constraints.

- May perform any additional responsibilities or special projects as required.
- Duties and responsibilities may be subject to change based upon the needs of the department.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Completion of 120-hour Administrative Pharmacy Technician Externship
- Valid and unrestricted California state Pharmacy Technician License
- License must be active and clear; subject to verification at any time
- Clear diction and knowledge of the English language, both written and verbal
- Work history of excellent attendance and punctuality
- Solid reading, writing, and mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to learn and adapt to process updates quickly
- High comfort level working with culturally diverse team members and clients

- Pharmacy candidates may require drug screening.
- Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation Package
Pay ranges may vary depending on location. The general hourly range for this position is $20 - $21 per hour. Actual compensation depends on education, experience, and relevant skills. In addition, benefits include:
