What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Technician position at North Collier Fire and Rescue District?

- Must be physically present to perform duties assigned.
- Perform mechanical and service work on all Department vehicles, trucks and other equipment such as: four-wheel brake jobs, tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carburetors/FI repairs; drive train repairs; diesel repair/minor/service.
- Troubleshoot, test, diagnose, adjust, repair and service a variety of medium and heavy-duty trucks and support apparatus;
- Pick up and deliver vehicles to various vendors;
- Repair parts on vehicles and equipment;
- Use hand and power tools and hoists, including a truck-mounted hoist for field repair to install, remove and disassemble/assemble or adjust parts and replace units;
- Order parts as needed within the scope of his duties;
- Provide input in areas of certifications for new and replacement tools equipment and refurbishes existing equipment, as requested; and
- Ability to use personal computer and associated fleet software.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides assistance to other employees as needed.
- On-Call Rotational EVT for after hours and weekend coverage.
- Deployment with Strike Team/Task Force as may be requested by the State Emergency Response Plan for 7-14 day events.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduation or GED.
- Any combination of at least five (5) years of mechanical experience in the automotive/truck repair and/or mechanical school and/or accredited technical school completion. (A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
- Current, valid Florida Driver’s License
- Must obtain EVT Level 1 certification within (12) months of hire.
- Must obtain Class B, CDL, with air brakes endorsement within twelve (12) months from hire.
