Job Overview:
North Country Electrical Line School is seeking an experienced and motivated Lineman Instructor to lead students through our Electrical Line Technician Program. This role is ideal for a seasoned industry professional who is passionate about sharing knowledge, promoting safety, and preparing the next generation of electrical line workers for success in the field.
As a Lineman Instructor, you will deliver both classroom instruction and hands-on field training in key areas such as pole climbing, transformer theory, pole top and bucket truck rescue, rigging, grounding, and job site operations. You’ll work closely with students from day one to graduation, fostering technical competency, confidence, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction on essential line work skills including:
- Pole climbing and pole top rescue
- Bucket truck operations and rescue
- Rigging, hoisting, and grounding procedures
- Setting, framing, and working on utility poles
- Transformer theory, installation, and troubleshooting
- Stringing and sagging conductors
- Live-line tool application
- Job site safety, communication, and efficiency
- Supervise and mentor students during field exercises, ensuring proper safety procedures at all times
- Deliver classroom instruction using school-approved materials and methods
- Conduct evaluations, provide feedback, and assess student performance
- Help maintain training yard equipment and inventory
- Collaborate with staff to ensure curriculum consistency and instructional excellence
- Participate in occasional job fairs or outreach events on behalf of the school
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of field experience as a journeyman lineman (required)
- Graduate of an accredited lineman training program (preferred)
- Prior instructional or leadership experience in a training setting (preferred, but not required)
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, utility safety standards, and best practices
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to demonstrate and explain technical concepts in a clear, patient, and effective manner
- Physically capable of climbing poles and working outdoors in various conditions
- CPR/First Aid and OSHA 10 or 30 certifications (or willingness to obtain)

Pay: $34.00 - $45.25 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
