Position Statement
Coordinates overall services for patients. Provides support for the smooth operation of the medical practice and services to patients. Supports clinical staff in an effort to maintain productivity and reduce financial burden on medical practice period maintains a cooperative working relationship with other team personnel and maintains standards of behavior NCH while striving to meet the goals of the clinic and NCH as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates computerized scheduling for all patients, maintaining schedules that reflect individual practitioners of availability and abilities, and rearranges schedules, when necessary, with a minimal amount of disruption or delay to patients.
- In coordination with other clerical staff verifies patients’ insurance eligibility, updating demographics, assigning medical record numbers, prepares appropriate forms and labels needed for visits, clearly notes copays and balances due from patient.
- Courteously receives, places and transfers calls using proper phone etiquette. Handles phone information request with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality. Forward's messages to the appropriate personnel using various forms of communication including but not limited to writing, phoning, faxing, emailing, and EMR messaging.
- Maintains an understanding of all financial resources available to patients. Inform patients of resources that may assist them in managing their financial responsibilities. Prior to the scheduled visit, contacts patient when financial obligations are not being met and offer help in resolving such matters.
- At the direction of healthcare provider, schedules appointments for patients with other departments within and outside North Country Hospital following proper office procedures.
- Maintains a user sign in and working knowledge of various insurance carrier websites. Prior to scheduled patient visits, verifies insurance coverage, benefits and copays using carrier websites for most current information and documents the information in the electronic medical record.
- Assist patients with completing departmental forms period
- Maintains patient confidentiality and follows department policies regarding the release of information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma
- Typing in computer skills
- able to greet and interact with public in a tactful, cheerful manner
- Medical terminology
- Knowledge of insurance plans preferred
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member
