Position Statement
Coordinates surgical procedures for patients. Maintains the appointment reminder lists and notification to patients when these are due for elective procedures. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other team personnel including the OR staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares necessary surgical order forms, making sure that all vital information for the procedure is attached before distribution to Surgical Services.
- Coordinates with OR scheduler and patient to complete scheduling.
- Monitors prior authorization process of surgical procedures.
- Maintains the call back list and notifies patients by phone when they are due for procedures.
- Reviews surgical prep with patients and answers any questions they may have regarding the prep.
- Is responsible for getting necessary documents to the OR daily
- Schedules patients for clinic follow up appointments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge of insurance plans
- Medical terminology with skill preferred
- Computer experience required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Essential is the ability to maintain a positive attitude while integrating and closing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing as circumstances indicate or as requested by the Practice Manager. Individual must be ethical, honest, and responsible.
