Driver Trainee - Mat Plant Technician

Pay Range $20 - $23 per hour.

Rental Mat Route Driver Trainee - Rental Mat Plant Technician Position summary :

The right candidate for this job will work and learn two different aspects of the Rental Mat business. The internal processes in the Rental Mat Plant as a Technician, as well as the delivery and pick up of product from the customers as a Driver. Monday through Friday, shift start varies from 5AM to 8AM, work until job duties are complete, approximately 35 to 45 hours per week.

Tasks For Mat Route Driver Trainee :

  • Pull rugs from bins to be loaded on carts then into van.
  • Get linen from Linen Carts and load into van.
  • Deliver mats to customers; Change out dirty for clean.
  • Collect money from COD customers.
  • Customer Service; Friendly, courteous, polite, etc.
  • Unload dirty rugs from van at the end of the day.
  • Do paperwork for end of route; including money and checks collected.
  • Drive vans with respect, as if they were our own. We are a billboard for the company.
  • Wash and clean-out van and maintenance.

Tasks For Mat Plant Technician :

  • Daily operation and maintenance of mat plant equipment.
  • Take an active part in the handling and processing of all product.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals used and SDS sheets.
  • Provide guidance to other team members related to product flow through the plant.
  • Keep coordinator informed of production issues that would impact service delivery.
  • Must have a neat & clean appearance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant to a high standard every day.
  • Keep pace with production in a manner that does not allow product to randomly sit on the floor overnight.
  • Maintain a consistent and disciplined inventory structure. Every product in its assigned storage location, all the time.
  • Fill in as a route driver when needed.

    • Skills Required :

  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to effectively manage your own time and the time of others.
  • Taking a proactive approach in attempting to solve problems

    • Attributes Required :

  • Grip Strength – Must have the ability to grip, squeeze, and roll rugs / mats into tight rolls for proper storage. Must have ability to perform this task several hundred times per week.
  • Trunk Strength and Flexibility - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing while twisting and / or bending.
  • Safe and defensive driving posture when operating company vehicles
  • Lifting requirements – up to 85 lbs.

    • Experience and Education :

    High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred but not required. Valid clean driver’s license required.

We cover a territory from Albany NY up to the Canadian border.
