What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at North Country Smokehouse?
The employee will be responsible for assisting in all facets of finished goods, inventory control, and receivables while ensuring safe actions, environmental compliance, and quality production in a Good Manufacturing Practice food-grade operation. All in compliance with the standards of wholesomeness, hygiene, health & safety at work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Must have prior forklift experience
· Ability to clearly read and interpret numbers
· Putting up all finished goods that come off the production lines
· Use FIFO for proper inventory rotation
· General warehouse housekeeping
· Weekly cycle counts of all bacon & sausage products
· Assist in the monthly inventory
· Putting pallets on racks
· Take pallets out of Case & Pack
· Take pallets down when shipper needs large quantity
· Handle all receiving (raw goods, dry goods, packaging materials and pallets)
· Sorting of pallets
IN COLLABORATION WITH:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or G.E.D
· Prior forklift/warehouse experience
· Prior food processing experience
. Must be 18 years of age, able to pass a criminal background check, physical and drug screen
REQUIRED SKILLS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Basic mathematical skills in weights, temperatures, times, and general numbers
· Able to work in a cold/hot environment
· Wear bump cap, safety boots and gloves at all times
· Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
· Able to operate computer and write routine reports and correspondence
· Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception acuities
· Follow and promote safe work practices
