What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Processor position at North Country Smokehouse?
The meat processor will process meat, which includes, but is not limited to, making, curing, smoking, cutting and slicing meat products based on company specifications. This position will perform various tasks corresponding to the process of preparing the meat (injection, hanging, stalling, and churning of the meat). All in compliance with the standards of wholesomeness, hygiene, health & safety at work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES :
- Supply meat for injection and place the pieces of meat on the conveyor of the injector
- Mix the products
- Participate in the hanging and stalling of bacon bellies
- Complete quality and safety reports adequately at established frequencies
- Setup, adjust, break down, troubleshoot and operate all of the machinery in the kitchen area to ensure a quality product
- Wash machines when changing or at the end of shift when needed
- Maintain quality and quantity performance standards
- Visually check work after completion for cosmetic appearance and noticeable defects
- Maintain necessary records
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, orderly, and operable condition
- Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, defective product and unusual conditions to the proper Manager
- May assist with other processing-related activities as requested by supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Relevant experiences is a plus
- Satisfactory completion of training program
- Able to pass Physical & Drug Screen and criminal background check
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Very good physical shape (frequently lifting and/or moving up to 60 pounds)
- Highly detail oriented and meticulous
- Autonomy, versatility, thoroughness and resourcefulness
- Good speed of execution (fast paced environment)
- Strong commitment to teamwork and concern for others
- High level of personal responsibility and ownership
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic mathematical skills in weights, temperatures, times and general numbers
- Ability to work in a cold environment
- Wear clean smock, hair net, bump cap, sleeves, safety steel-toe boots and gloves at all times
- Able to multi-task and work independently
- Able to read and follow detailed procedures
- Follow safe work practices
- Able to wear Steel-toe boots
