The Organization
North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.
Department - Consumer Services - Intake - San Fernando Valley
Supervision
Receives supervision from the Intake Supervisor.
The Position and Job Summary

• Understanding of Lanterman Act eligibility guidelines and familiarity with clinical diagnostic assessments.
• Completes work within state mandated and departmental eligibility time-line. Schedules and completes initial Social Assessment. Coordinates clinical review, information gathering and/or assessments to establish eligibility.
• Coordinates with other resource agencies to gather and share information. Obtains,
reviews and interprets available records, assessments and IEP’s. Conducts comprehensive review of the applicant’s case history, records and assessments to effectively advocate for eligibility recommendations. Participation and case presentation in Inter-disciplinary Eligibility Determination staffings, as indicated.
• Provides advocacy and resource referral information to applicants and families. Explains Lanterman Act guidelines for eligibility determinations. Notifies applicant and completes Notice of Action letter for applicants determined not eligible.
• Maintains case records with SANDIS ID noted case activity, status changes and input of initial CDER. Provides excellent customer service to our consumers and families.
Employment Standards
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or related human services field and at least two years of related experience. A Master’s degree in a related subject may be substituted for experience.
Skills and Abilities
Understanding of family systems and appreciation for person-centered planning and thinking; empowering individuals to achieve their goals. Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, good organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook.
Essential Requirements
Service coordination is a community-based position that requires meeting with individuals served and their families in their homes, in the community, or in our office location. Must be comfortable working with a high degree of independence. Frequent telephone, virtual, and out-of-office meetings required. Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

Compensation
This position is non-exempt. Regular Salary - $25.82 - $36.50 per hour, plus $69.24 per bi-weekly pay period for bilingual services.
