Job Summary
The Aftercare Aide's primary responsibility is to assist students in becoming academically proficient in the California Standards and assists teacher in the classroom activities. The instructional aide tutors individual students and works with small groups of students under teacher direction. The Aftercare Aid would assist the Aftercare Supervisor after school hours with whatever duties as assigned.
Definition of Instructional Aide Position
The Instructional Aide's Primary Responsibility is to assist students in becoming academically proficient in the California Standards and assist teachers in classroom activities. The Instructional Aide tutors individual students and works with small groups of students under teacher direction. The Instructional Aide also performs related duties as assigned.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting individual children in need of special assistance
- Assisting classroom teacher in monitoring and supervising pupils in and out of the classroom
- Encouraging students to develop and use critical thinking skills
- Assisting students in organizing and utilizing reference and resource materials
- Operating necessary office machinery
- Maintaining confidentiality of student information
- Attending meetings when necessary
- Assisting students in intervention programs
Required qualifications include, but are not limited to:
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must possess one of the following:
- An associate's or higher degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- A transcript showing successful completion of 48 units at an accredited institution of higher education; or
- A certificate showing successful completion of the Shasta County Office of Education Paraprofessional Exam
Physical demands include, but are not limited to:
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, occasionally reach with arms, and lift or move up to 20 lbs. The employee will also be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, on occasion, and will work in a typical classroom with active children.

Pay: $16.50 - $22.58 per hour
