The Behavior Technician position is a great opportunity for college students who are looking for experience in the human service field, such as but not limited to psychology, social work, counseling, child development/family sciences, sociology, special education., etc.
As a Behavior Technician at the North Dakota Autism Center, INC., you will provide 1:1 behavioral support intervention technique to the individuals we serve in our clinic. Using understanding, advocacy and support you will help empower and enrich the lives of individuals and families impacted by autism spectrum disorders. This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Behavior Services and a Licensed Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Utilizing the knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the Behavior Technician’s will implement programming with clients such as sorting, matching, gross and fine motor skills, language skills, and social skill programs as directed by the clients supervising BCBA.
We provide all training needed in order to obtain a Registered Behavior Technician license.
Job Duties for the Behavior Technician include but are not limited to:
- Provide general 1:1 support and direct behavioral services to individuals served.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with clients, parents, and other professionals in the field as a regular representative of the North Dakota Autism Center, INC.
- Display proficiency in implementing ABA teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with teammates to support the individuals served.
- Implements behavior Treatment Plans during direct therapy session.
- Act as a regular and effective point of communication between individuals' caregivers and BCBA’s.
- Demonstrate the ability to solve problems independently and use effective resources to complete job duties with minimal oversight.
- Run various skill acquisition programs with clients using Applied Behavior Analysis and Skills Based Training.
- Collect data as instructed.
- Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) for all clients while acting as an advocate for their needs.
- Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during treatment sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise.
- Attend staff development trainings and team meetings.
- Complete Client Progress Notes within 24 hours to maintain compliance.
Physical demands placed on the Behavior Technician:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to run, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
Work Environment the Behavior Technician will work in:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, human bites or scratches, and maladaptive or aggressive behaviors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Education/Experience required for the Behavior Technician:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid driver's license.
- Proof of vehicle insurance.
- Vehicle registration.
Specialized training, certifications, and licenses preferred of the Behavior Technician (these are a plus, but not required for hire. All following licenses are provided within the training window):
- CPR certification.
- Crisis management certification (SafetyCare, Therapeutic Response, or CPI).
- 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician training. Upon completion of the training, the Behavior Technician is required to sit for the Registered Behavior Technician exam.
Additional requirements, skills, and abilities of a Behavior Technician:
- Must have cleared and approved criminal record check.
- Must have legal status in the U.S.
- Must be comfortable with transporting clients.
Schedule:
North Dakota Autism Center, INC. Behavior Support Department is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. As a part time Behavior Technician, we are currently looking for individuals with morning and afternoon availability.
