NDDOT Hiring Salary: $8,691 / month
This position is eligible for telework from Bismarck, North Dakota with in-person work duties and meetings required.
Summary of Work:
At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As the Bridge Inspection Program Team Lead in the Bridge Division, you will oversee the Bridge Inspection Program, ensuring the safety and integrity of bridges in North Dakota. You will lead and motivate a team of North Dakota Bridge inspectors as well as oversee consultant inspectors, ensuring inspections are timely, complete, consistent, and accurate. You will motivate and inspire your team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages team member bonding, and demonstrates flexibility. This position is perfect for someone ready to lead a team, drive innovation, and make an impact on bridge safety and infrastructure in ND. Primary duties associated with this position are as follows:
· Manage the National Bridge Inspection Program to verify inspections are timely, complete, consistent, and accurate
· Supervise NDDOT bridge inspectors by exhibiting strong leadership skills to mentor and provide for professional development, and training of bridge inspectors.
· Provide consultant oversight for inspection-related contracts.
· Update and maintain bridge inspection schedules, track changes, prioritize and assign work to meet deadlines and goals.
· Update and manage Critical Findings and coordinate with Bridge, Local Government and districts on required actions.
· Coordinate damage inspections with NDDOT bridge inspectors and district personnel.
· Utilize and manage inspection software, provide inspector training and technical support, and serve as a technical resource for inspection-related inquiries.
· Evaluate and implement emerging technologies for bridge inspections, including the use of drones, NDE, and other innovative tools to improve inspection safety, quality and program efficiency.
· Assist with development of the Bridge Preservation Program by working with the Maintenance Division and districts on implementing and improving bridge preservation activities, products, and methods.
· Oversee development of Bridge Preservation projects to extend the service life of bridges on the state highway system.
· Update and maintain the NDDOT Bridge Inspection manual.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registration as professional engineer (need to be registered within ND within 6 months)
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil or construction engineering from an ABET accredited college.
- Successful completion of NHI Course No. 130055 or 130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges within 6 months of employment (NDDOT will pay for the cost of training)
- Requires a class D driver’s license for travel to meetings and project locations.
