This position plays a role in collecting, analyzing, and maintaining labor market data that supports decision-making, economic development, and workforce planning. It's an excellent fit for someone who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and enjoys working independently to turn data into meaningful insights.

The Associate Labor Market Analyst will:

  • Assist with the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program and support key Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) initiatives and workforce information projects
  • Use specialized BLS software, and advanced Excel (e.g., pivot tables and spreadsheet development)
  • Collect, code, and analyze survey data
  • Review data for accuracy and identify trends based on economic conditions
  • Conduct research in line with BLS methodology and Cooperative Agreements
  • Communicate with BLS, internal staff, Unemployment Insurance (UI) staff, and employers to support data accuracy, correct reporting errors, and ensure accurate NAICS code assignments
  • Respond to data requests and assist with product development, and reporting.

Attendance at virtual or in-person regional and national conferences or trainings may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, business administration, or a related field; or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to four years that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have experience applying research methodologies, conducting statistical surveys, and working with databases, including maintaining, analyzing, and manipulating data. Strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to interpret and communicate statistical information are essential. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is important, along with being a self-motivated individual who can research and gather information with minimal supervision. Preference will be given to those with experience using statistical software, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) systems, and advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, and formulas.
