Position Information
NDSU is seeking applications for an experienced and visionary leader for the position of Counseling Center Director. The Director provides overall administration for highly skilled team of 8 professional staff members and approximately 12 graduate student trainees who serve NDSU’s nearly 12,000 undergraduate, professional and graduate students.
The NDSU Counseling Center is accredited by International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and provides therapy services to individuals, groups and couples. The Center operates within a short-term or intermittent model of individual treatment. The primary goal of the Center’s clinical services is to provide students with appropriate mental health care and assist with personal development. Clinical services include initial assessments, individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, psycho-educational programs, and referral to community resources when appropriate. As space allows, there are no limits for involvement in therapy or support groups, or in workshops and outreach activities.
The Director coordinates recruitment, training, supervision, development and evaluation of staff, including licensed personal counselors, graduate assistant trainees, and administrative staff including, clinical supervision, outreach and consultation services to the university community.The Director oversees the department budget, prepares annual reports, assesses the quality of services, and ensures adherence to accreditation standards. Additionally, the Director is a member of the and collaborates with the Dean of Students Office, Case Management and Student Health Service and other campus units to holistically support students in crisis. The Director contributes to a campus engaged in creating an inclusive environment that fosters excellence.
Work Schedule :
Monday through Friday 8 : 00-5 : 00; 7 : 30-4 : 00 during summer and breaks

Minimum Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, clinical social work or closely related field
- Licensure, or the ability to qualify for ND licensure (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker)
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a clinical and / or counseling setting
- Two years-experience in a supervisory capacity (both clinical and administrative)
- Evidence of involvement and commitment to professional development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from historically under-represented groups
- Experience in assessment and / or evaluation of programs and services
