2025 ND 4-H Camp Programming Assistant
North Dakota 4-H Camp is seeking summer staff who can provide exceptional customer service, high-quality educational programming, and endless fun for the 400 campers and volunteers attending 4-H camp for summer 2025.
Camp Programming Assistant :
The Camp Programming Assistant will work closely with the Camp Programming Team to ensure all activity supplies are prepared and readily available. This individual will promptly report any supply issues or shortages to the State 4-H Activities Coordinator and assist with the setup and cleanup of programming materials. Serving as the primary point of contact for each programming team, the Camp Programming Assistant will facilitate smooth communication and coordination. This position will work directly with the Head Counselor.
Responsibilities for Summer Camp :
- Assist the camp Extension team in delivering engaging and educational programming.
- Communicate effectively with camp supervisors and Extension staff regarding supplies, time management, and camper concerns.
- Maintain and organize equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Arrive promptly for each scheduled shift.
- Record detailed reports of any incidents occurring during educational programming.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of activities as directed by the camp Extension team.
- Seek guidance and support from the camp Extension team when needed.
- Gain knowledge of various operations at the North Dakota 4-H Camp.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of supplies and notify the State 4-H Activities Coordinator when supplies are running low.
- Contribute to daily programming efforts.
- Mentor and model responsible behavior for campers.
- Promote teamwork and character development among campers.
- Organize programming activities as directed by the camp Extension team.
- Actively participate in and assist with various camp duties, including occasional service in the Dining Hall.
- Demonstrate flexibility, a positive attitude, and adaptability in all tasks.
- Persevere through challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.
- Prioritize safety, privacy, and attention to detail throughout camp activities.
- Exhibit strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Be dependable, consistent, and able to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Show a genuine interest in working with youth.
- Attend the camp meeting with the camp Extension team on the first day of camp.
Salary and Benefits :
Pay is $600.00 per week plus free room and board.
This experience can be used as an internship in an accepted field of study.
Qualifications :
1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
2. Experience with youth is preferred.
3. Ability to remain calm under stress and use good judgment
4. Ability to work well with a team
5. Positive attitude, responsible, mature
6. Good problem-solving skills, ability to effectively deal with conflict
7. CPR and first aid certification are required and will be provided if needed.
8. 4-H experience is not required.
