Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant, with strong analytical skills, who will assist with the financial management of payroll processing within the university. This includes reconciling payroll, handling vendor payments, filing taxes, and ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Assist in the preparation of payroll for university employees, ensuring all transactions are accurate and timely.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll accounts, including vendor payments and payroll discrepancies.
- Tax Filing: Assist with the preparation and filing of payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Payments: Manage and disburse payroll-related payments, including benefits, and other deductions.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records and reports, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Compliance: Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring the university’s payroll practices are compliant.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Employee Support: Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and provide necessary support and training.
Work Schedule:
Academic Year - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Summer and Breaks: 7:30 am -4:00 pm
Advertised Salary:
$50,000
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or Associate's Degree with a minimum of 3 years payroll accounting.
- Skills: Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll or tax accounting, preferably in a university or educational setting; prefer experience with Oracle/Peoplesoft HCM.
- Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is preferred.

- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
