The Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department at the North Dakota State University invites full-time research assistant professor (non-tenure track) applications. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students, staff, and faculty to share in our vision of excellence in engineering education, research and service to local and regional industries.

The preferred candidate will work on federally sponsored and local research projects related to analyzing operational solutions for projects such as transportation optimization, network modeling, process and methods analysis, and material analysis. The preferred candidate will require to have solid knowledge in these areas. In addition, the preferred candidate will teach one course in transportation engineering. The expected term for this position is approximately one year and can be renewed contingent on available funding. It is a full-time benefited position for 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities :

  • Executing research activities for multiple research grants including performing related research, writing journal papers and technical reports, and teaching one course per year for CCEE in transportation engineering.
  • Mentoring a team of assistant researchers (several graduate and undergraduate students) who will carry out this research.
  • Being responsible for frequent communication in the interest of common understanding, research progress, and effective mentoring with the team.
  • Contributing the best efforts to the program in which the candidate works, including gaining new research skills, contributing efforts to execute related projects, and concludes research project in a timely manner.
  • Teaching one course per year.

Advertised Pay :

60,000 - $62,000 Per year (annually)

Minimum Qualifications :

  • The candidate must have a Master's degree or above in civil engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university in U. S.
  • The candidate must have experiences in working on research projects in federally sponsored projects.
  • The candidate will help oversee the research activities of one or more graduate and undergraduate students and must demonstrate a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and dynamic research group.
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ph. D. Degree
  • Strong records of peer-reviewed journal publications
  • Involvements in research of federal sponsored projects
  • Experiences in writing competitive research proposals for federal and local agencies
  • Demonstrated experiences in sensing related research experience
  • Senior level experience in statistical and machine learning modeling skills
  • Direct experience working with interdisciplinary settings
  • Direct experience of mentoring students
  • Experience with stakeholders, state governmental agencies, industry, and relevant professional associations
