What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN MDS Coordinator position at North Dakota Veterans' Home?
Summary of Work
We are seeking a temporary RN MDS Coordinator to join our team. The RN MDS Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role is essential in maintaining high-quality patient care and accurate documentation for reimbursement and care planning. This role is non-benefited and is needed for approximately 4 months.
Duties and Tasks
- Coordinate, schedule, and complete MDS assessments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Ensure accurate completion of all MDS assessments and any supporting clinical documentation.
- Review documentation to ensure accuracy and support the MDS process.
- Provide direction and education to nurses and Resident Living Specialists on correct documentation and clinical needs.
- Stay current with frequent MDS regulation changes and ensure compliance.
- Obtain and maintain an RAC certificate as required.
- Transmit assessments in accordance with regulations to ensure timely validation in the Veterans Home databases.
- Address and correct fatal and non-fatal errors in MDS submissions.
- Communicate with the business office to ensure awareness of validation reports and resident condition changes that affect billing.
- Monitor changes in resident conditions and update MDS assessments accordingly to ensure accurate care planning and reimbursement.
- Assist on the floor as needed, providing direct patient care, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring the highest level of resident care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of MDS and care planning
- Must have strong leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- ND RN license is required
