Summary of Work

When workers get hurt on the job in North Dakota, they can submit a workers' compensation claim to cover medical bills and lost pay for missed work. As a Claims Adjuster, you will facilitate and coordinate an injured employee's workers' compensation claims. To do this, you will analyze workers' compensation claims, review documentation, and authorize payments. A Claims Adjuster is self-motivated with attention to detail, thriving in a fast-paced changing work environment.

The Claims Adjuster creates value and makes an impact with these job duties:

  • Adjudicating injured worker claims
  • Determining liability according to ND Century Code and ND Administrative Code
  • Managing medical and disability processes and benefits for injured worker claims
  • Coordinating the return-to-work process
  • Responding to inquiries from injured workers, employers, medical providers, and other claim parties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED and four years of work experience that provided knowledge of medical and insurance claims and/or terminology.
  • College-level coursework in a business or healthcare field will substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to current North Dakota Workforce Safety & Insurance team members.
