EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelors Degree
Five years of teaching experience with a proven track record of measurable student achievement.
Experience with the RTI as work, MTSS, through the Professional Learning Communities Model (PLC).

CERTIFICATION :
Valid Texas Teachers Certification by the State Board of Educators.

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
The Behavior Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Specialist is responsible for training, coaching, and supporting campus leadership, and teachers to facilitate implementation of a multi-tiered system of support at the school level. Assistance activities include observation, feedback, modeling, interpreting data, and ensuring fidelity of implementation to Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III behavior strategies, groups, and instructional times. The Behavior MTSS Specialist will be responsible for providing information and professional development to school site teams, ensuring that MTSS components are implemented effectively throughout the campus.

IDEA-B FORMULA FEDERAL CCEIS FUNDED POSITION
The purpose of IDEA-B is to provide special education and related services to children with disabilities ages 3-21. The regulations implementing IDEA-B define the purpose of the act to do the following:
  • Ensure that all students with disabilities have available a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) that includes special education and related services to meet their unique needs.
  • Ensure that the rights of students with disabilities and of their parents are protected.
  • Assist states and localities in providing the education of all students with disabilities.
Assess and ensure the effectiveness of efforts to educate those students.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with the Special Education Targeted Behavior Program Coordinator to implement MTSS for all involved personnel (principals, assistant principals, academic deans, counselors, teachers, etc.) to ensure a consistent and effective program at all campuses that support funding through Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS) to address disproportionality in behavior.
2. Apply instructional expertise to improving the effectiveness of Tier 1 behavior, and Tier II and Tier II behavior interventions and practices.
3. Provide support and training aligned to the MTSS process and research-based practices, to include timely targeted, and systematic preventions, interventions, and extensions.
4. Develop research-based recommendations for behavior strategies, professional development, and assessments to increase the quality of teaching and learning for prevention, interventions, and extensions across the tiers.
5. Monitor the implementation of MTSS at the district and support campus implementation.
6. Coordinate MTSS professional learning activities for school based personnel.
7. Work with campus teams to deeply analyze student behavior and academic data and guide PLC teams in developing materials and provide necessary support.
8. Model skillful use of data to inform decision-making.
9. Maintain professional competence through professional reading and attending appropriate workshops, courses, and conferences in keeping with the needs of students and in accordance with district guidelines.
10. Maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, parents, staff, and district personnel.
11. Attend professional learning and district-level monthly meetings.
12. Maintain confidentiality of information.
13. Regularly required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
14. Participates in professional organizations related to the content area.
15. Reports to work on time every day.
16. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of MTSS model and implementation of an MTSS model in school setting
  • Ability to communicate a data-driven discussion and evidence-based practices
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching teachers and observing instruction
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and discretion in sensitive, confidential issues and projects
  • Valid Texas Driver's license with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks. The employee could be involved in the restraining of students for their safety or the safety of others using district approved techniques.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee may be required to work in a confined space.
