Summer Camp Gym Specialist – North East Summer Camp
North East is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic recreation for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our summer day camp offers a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment where campers can explore various activities, including sports, movement games, fitness, and teamwork-building exercises, while developing confidence and social skills.
We are seeking a DEDICATED & RELIABLE Gym Specialist to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about physical activity, adaptive fitness, and creating a fun, inclusive sports environment for individuals of all abilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and lead 4-5 engaging, adaptive gym sessions per day (each 25 minutes long) for groups of 8-10 campers.
- Organize a variety of sports, fitness activities, and movement-based games that are age-appropriate, fun, and inclusive for all ability levels.
- Modify and adapt activities to accommodate campers with different physical, cognitive, and sensory needs.
- Promote teamwork, coordination, and confidence through structured and free-play activities.
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and positive environment where all campers can participate and succeed.
- Work closely with other camp staff to facilitate smooth transitions and provide additional camper support when needed.
Camp Details:
Dates: June 30th - August 8th, 2025 (Orientation: June 26th & 27th)
No camp on July 4th
Hours: 8:45 AM - 3:15 PM (Monday - Friday)
Location: 300 Dalmeny Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510
Who We’re Looking For:
Experience with physical education, coaching, personal training, or recreational therapy (formal training is a plus but not required).
Ability to adapt and modify activities to meet individual camper needs.
Creative, patient, and enthusiastic individuals who love working with children and young adults.
Willingness to take direction, be flexible, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
