Job Summary:
The CAD Designer/Technician will create technical drawings used in our engineering and construction projects. You'll work with design engineers to understand the requirements of their initial designs and turn them into accurate and detailed technical drawings. These drawings are used at all stages of a project, from estimating cost and feasibility to creating the blueprints for construction on a wide range of civil engineering projects from transportation to site-development to utilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create high-quality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by engineers and designers and make modifications to existing drawings;
- Use a variety of CAD software programs to create designs in 2D and 3D models;
- Communicate with engineers to understand their design requirements;
- Provide accurate, detailed and to-scale drawings;
- Ensure drawings are compliant with industry standards and protocols;
- Calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check feasibility of construction of the project;
- Present working drawings for use in all stages of the project;
- Maintain accurate records.
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience as a CAD technician;
- Advanced knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software;
- Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings;
- Basic understanding of design and construction;
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually on projects;
- A keen eye for detail;
- Excellent time management skills; and
- Strong communication skills.
